An auditorium area has talks with drivers/staff in between the action and various live bands around the track during the weekend. "This season has been incredible so far with great battles on the track, large audiences tuning in and fans returning to the races after the impact of the pandemic. As has been the case for some time now, in the United Kingdom, Sky Sports F1 have near exclusive coverage rights for the season. They will be showing all practice sessions, qualifying sessions, sprint qualifying and races throughout the season. Having been first trialled under the name "sprint qualifying" in 2021, the format returned also for this championship with the name changed to "sprint".
The weekend format will be unchanged from 2021 and will be run at the Emilia Romagna, Austrian and São Paulo Grands Prix with points now awarded to the top eight finishers rather than the top three finishers as was the case in 2021. Unlike the previous season, the driver who sets the fastest time in qualifying will be credited as the official polesitter, with the winner of sprint continuing to have the right to start the Grand Prix from the first place grid spot. For Sprint weekends, the driver who sets the fastest time on Friday qualifying will be officially credited as taken pole position. Drivers were consulted on developing the new technical regulations, which were deliberately written to be restrictive so as to prevent teams from developing radical designs that limited the ability of drivers to overtake. The FIA created a specialist Working Group, or committee of engineers, tasked with identifying and closing loopholes in the regulations before their publication. The elimination of loopholes will, in theory, stop one team from having a dominant car, and in turn allow for closer competition throughout the field while improving the aesthetics of the cars.
Red Bull car designer Adrian Newey noted that the regulation changes were the most significant in Formula One since the 1983 season. The 2022 World Championship is due to see an overhaul of the technical regulations. These changes had been planned for introduction in 2021, with teams developing their cars throughout 2020. However, the introduction of the regulations was delayed until the 2022 championship in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Once the delay was announced, teams were banned from carrying out any development of their 2022 cars during the 2020 calendar year. Prior to the season the FIA said it anticipated that the car performance deficit between the fastest and slowest teams on the grid would be cut by half when compared to 2021.
As part of F1's bid to reduce a grand prix weekend to three days by scrapping Thursday's media day, Friday's free practice sessions will be held later in the day to accommodate media activities in the morning. The dates for the 2022 races announced so far have been added to the RaceFans F1 calendar. This will be updated with session times plus test and car launch dates when further details are issued. "W Series' expansion continues with the announcement of our 2022 race calendar which will see us visit more circuits and countries in a single season than ever before. Last year, we began a landmark partnership with Formula 1 and our talented grid of female racing drivers proved that they belong on motor racing's greatest stage.
Though the main race is always jam packed, the practice and qualifying sessions are usually less popular. Consider getting tickets to them to enjoy the cars and the nearby vendors without a ton of people in your way. Formula 1 racing fans follow a series of U.S. and international Grand Prix events that showcase drivers with nerves of steel in cars that push the envelope in terms of speed, fuels, engine technology and sleek design. The technical regulations will reintroduce the use of ground effect for the first time since they were banned in the 1980s. This will coincide with a simplification of the bodywork, making the underside of the car the primary source of aerodynamic grip. This aims to reduce the turbulent air in the wake of the cars to allow drivers to follow each other more closely whilst still maintaining a similar level of downforce compared to previous years.
Further changes to the aerodynamics are aimed at limiting the teams' ability to control airflow around the front wheels and further reduce the cars' aerodynamic wake. This includes the elimination of bargeboards, the complex aerodynamic devices that manipulate airflow around the body of the car. The front wing and endplates will be simplified, reducing the number and complexity of aerodynamic elements. The rear wings will be wider and mounted higher than in previous years, with additional restrictions in place to limit the constructors' ability to use a car's exhaust gases to generate downforce.
Bodywork will be required to be coated in rubber to reduce the risk of components breaking off cars to minimise the risk of local yellow flags, safety cars, and stoppages. The 2022 FIA Formula One World Championship is a planned motor racing championship for Formula One cars which will be the 73rd running of the Formula One World Championship. It is recognised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile , the governing body of international motorsport, as the highest class of competition for open-wheel racing cars. The championship is due to be contested over twenty-three Grands Prix, which will be held around the world, and it is scheduled to end earlier than in other recent years to avoid overlapping with the FIFA World Cup. Drivers and teams are scheduled to compete for the titles of World Drivers' Champion and World Constructors' Champion respectively.
After F1's original plan to expand sprint events to six grands prix was met with resistance from the teams over the financial compensation involved, F1 has offered a compromise of holding sprint races at just three grands prix in 2022. The calendar has more than tripled in length since the world championship began. The first F1 season took place in 1950, when seven races were held. By 2020 the schedule had grown to 22 world championship grands prix.
The sprint races will be approximately 100km – or roughly a third of a grand prix distance – and will run on Saturday, with the traditional three-part qualifying setting the grid for the sprint and taking place on the Friday. More sprint races will be held throughout the 2022 Formula 1 season. It has been announced that races will be held at one-third of Grands Prix during the season. This means traditional qualifying will take place on Friday evening, which will set the grid for the sprint, which takes place on Saturday afternoon. The finishing order of these races will determine the order of the grid for the race on Sunday. Imola returned to the calendar in 2020, as part of the schedule redrafted due to the pandemic, and received a reprieve for 2021, in effect taking the April slot occupied by China.
That situation has been replicated for 2022 and it will again run under the Emilia Romagna title. Italy's other event, at Monza, has been slotted in as the final of a triple-header involving Belgium's Spa-Francorchamps and the Netherlands' Zandvoort, mirroring the 2021 schedule. Elsewhere in the European stretch of the calendar France's event has moved back by a month, forming a double header with Hungary, and it is a grand prix that looks precarious long-term. France's existing contract expires after 2022 and it is not an overwhelmingly popular event. While Miami's exact slot in the 2022 calendar has yet to be confirmed, F1 president Stefano Domenicali has said that he expects the race to take place in the second quarter of the year. Next season will be a big one for the sport, as it plans a comprehensive overhaul of its technical regulations aimed at increasing overtaking opportunities for drivers.
But the pinnacle of motorsport is continuing its efforts to expand its already record-breaking calendar and attract American viewers, which is why it has announced a new Miami Grand Prix for 2022 as part of a ten-year deal. The city will be the 11th US location to host a race and will mark the return of Formula 1 racing to Florida since the first USGP was held in Sebring in 1959. SaturdayA one-hour practice session with one set of tires for teams to choose freely, and a 100 km sprint race (one-third of Grand Prix distance) with two sets of tires to choose freely, with pit stops not compulsory . Moreover, teams are required to put a young driver in their car on at least two occasions.
The teams are given the freedom to choose which Grand Prix to send a rookie out on a practice session, but the driver they choose must not have competed in two or more races. The European season will then be punctuated by a return to Canada in June before the British Grand Prix moves to an early-July date before Austria. The summer break follows the Hungarian Grand Prix on 31st July then a pair of triple headers will send the teams around the world. The Belgian, Dutch and Italian grands prix are back-to-back and then the Russian, Singapore and Japanese races also come one after the other. Formula 1 says the race will boost tourism and the economy, benefitting local businesses in the greater Miami region. The season will kick off with first practice sessions at the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 10, qualifying on March 11 and a special race on March 12.
Another minor change is that the driver who tops qualifying on Friday, when these sprint races take place, will be awarded pole position, not the winner of the sprint. The season will begin with the first practice sessions of the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 10, qualifying on March 11 and the featured race on March 12. From there, it's lights out and away we go on the 2022 World Championship. What time do you recommend leaving the city to get to the track on race day? The big talking point ahead of the 2022 season is changes to the rules that the teams have to follow when building their car.
Having been pushed back a year as a result of Covid, the 2022 regulations represent the biggest overhaul in the sport for years. Due to the ongoing pandemic, China has not been included on the 2022 calendar. The 2022 championship season begins in Bahrain on March 20 and ends in Abu Dhabi on November 20.
He schedule of a Formula 1 weekend is set to look different in 2022, with a compressed format in a bid to save 24 days of work for the teams. Following on from the trial of three sprint qualifying races in 2021, F1 proposed a doubling of that to six for the upcoming season. However, after a meeting on February 14 it was confirmed that just three sprint races would take place in 2022, subject to World Motor Sport Council approval. The 2022 F1 season kicks off in Bahrain on Sunday March 20, though the first practice session takes place two days before on Friday March 18 and qualifying runs on Saturday March 19.

With the arrival of those all-new cars and concepts, the winter testing schedule returns to six days for 2022. Teams will be further restricted in the number of aerodynamic upgrades they can introduce to the car, both over the course of a race weekend and over the course of the championship.
These rules were introduced to further cut the costs of competing. Following the decision to delay the 2021 regulations to 2022, aerodynamic development of the cars was banned from 28 March 2020 to the end of 2020. Honda announced that they would not supply power units beyond 2021. The company had provided power units to Scuderia AlphaTauri since 2018 and to Red Bull Racing since 2019. Red Bull Racing will take over Honda's engine programme and manage it in-house setting up a new division called Red Bull Powertrains. The decision was made after lobbying the other nine teams to negotiate an engine development freeze until 2025.
Red Bull Racing acknowledged that they would have left the championship if the engine development freeze had not been agreed to as they could not develop a brand new engine and were unwilling to again become a customer of Renault. As was the case last year, almost all grands prix will continue to start on the hour, after starting 10 minutes past the hour for several years. Additionally, the regulation also calls for a reduction in tyre blanket temperatures; it will be limited to 70 degrees Celsius. The previous limit was 100 °C for the front tyres and 80 °C for the rear tyres. This change will affect drivers' outlaps during practice and qualifying, and it will require drivers to modify their strategies during the formation lap so they can compensate for the reduced assistance from the tyre blankets. Teams & Drivers 11 teams, 22 cars and 22 drivers but only one winner.
